Peter D. Coblentz practices exclusively in the area of local government law. He has counseled many municipalities and school districts in the Chicago metropolitan area in matters involving all aspects of local government law, including land development and redevelopment, land use, land acquisition and leasing, cable television franchising and regulation, telecommunications, eminent domain, real estate exemption and taxation, the financing and construction of public works, employee hiring and dismissal, elections and administrative law as well as general municipal corporate matters.
Mr. Coblentz has tried jury and bench cases in the U.S. District Court and in circuit courts throughout the metropolitan area involving many different aspects of local government affairs including civil rights, contracts, election law, eminent domain, liquor licensing and control, personal injury, police and fire testing, hiring and discipline, public bidding and procurement, public works construction, special assessments, special education and zoning. He has briefed and argued many cases in the Illinois Appellate Courts and before administrative agencies such as the Illinois Commerce Commission and the Illinois State Liquor Commission.
Mr. Coblentz has delivered speeches on a variety of local government issues to groups including the Illinois Municipal League, the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, the Northwest Municipal Conference, and the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisers.
